NCT 127 (Korean: 엔씨티  127) is the second sub-unit of SM Entertainment’s boy group NCT, this sub-unit will be based in Seoul. The seven member sub-unit consists of Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Win Win, Mark and Haechan. They debuted on July 7th, 2016 on Mnet’s M! Countdown.

SF9 (에스에프나인) is a South Korean boy group under F.N.C Entertainment that debuted on October 5, 2016. They’re the company’s first dance boy group.

ASTRO (아스트로) is a South Korean boy band formed by Fantagio in 2015. The group is composed of six members: Jinjin, MJ, Eunwoo, Moonbin, Rocky, and Sanha. Astro released their debut mini album Spring Up on February 23, 2016.

KNK (크나큰) is a five-member South Korean boy band under Y.N.B Entertainment, the company’s first male idol group. KNK is an initialism which stands for K-pop kNocK(케이팝 노크). It means “to knock on the door of K-pop with their music.” They held their debut showcase on February 29, 2016 and officially released their debut single album entitled Knock on March 3, 2016.

PENTAGON (펜타곤) is a South Korean boy group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2016. The group consists of 10 members: Jin-ho, Hui, Hong-seok, E’Dawn, Shin-won, Yan An, Yeo One, Yuto, Kino and Woo-seok. They were introduced through the Mnet survival show Pentagon Maker. Pentagon released their self-titled debut mini album on October 10, 2016.

BLACK PINK (블랙핑크), is a South Korean girl group formed by Y.G Entertainment. The group consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. They officially debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single album Square One.

gugudan (구구단) is a South Korean girl group formed in 2016 by Jellyfish Entertainment. The group consists of nine members: Mimi, Hana, Haebin, Nayoung, Sejeong, Sally, Soyee, Mina and Hyeyeon.

Bolbbalgan4 (볼빨간사춘기) is an indie female duo formed by Shofar Music. The duo participated on Superstar K 6 in 2014 and signed a contract with their current company, but didn’t make their debut until 2016. They officially debuted with the mini album Red Ickle on April 22, 2016.

I.O.I (아이오아이) is a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2016 reality show Produce 101 on Mnet. The group is composed of eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies: Lim Na-young, Kim Chung-ha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Zhou Jieqiong, Kim So-hye, Yu Yeon-jung, Choi Yoo-jung, Kang Mi-na, Kim Do-yeon and Jeon So-mi. They debuted on May 4, 2016 with the mini-album Chrysalis, and are expected to actively promote for 10 months either as a whole or as sub-units before returning to their respective agencies.

Cosmic Girls (우주소녀), also known as WJSN, is a South Korean-Chinese girl group formed by Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment which debuted in 2016. The group is composed of thirteen members: SeolA, Xuanyi, Bona, Exy, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Cheng Xiao, Meiqi, Yeoreum, Dayoung and Yeonjung. The members are separated into four subgroups for each letter in “WJSN”: Wonder, Joy, Sweet, and Natural. The group debuted with the release of their first mini album Would You Like? on February 25, 2016.

EXO is a South Korean boy group based in Seoul. Formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2011, the group debuted in 2012 with twelve members separated into two subgroups, Exo-K and Exo-M, performing music in Korean and Mandarin respectively.

iKON (아이콘), is a South Korean boy band formed in 2015 by YG Entertainment. The group was first introduced in the reality survival program WIN: Who is Next as “Team B.” After that, Team B went on to appear in the 2014 reality survival program Mix & Match, which determined the final seven-member lineup of iKon: B.I, Bobby, Jinhwan, Junhoe, Yunhyeong, Donghyuk and Chanwoo.

BTS, known as Bangtan Boys (방탄소년단), is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. They debuted on June 13, 2013, with the song “No More Dream” from their first album, 2 Cool 4 Skool, for which they won several “New Artist of the Year” awards including those at the 2013 MelOn Music Awards and Golden Disk Awards, and the 2014 Seoul Music Awards. A year after their debut, they received major bonsang awards for their subsequent albums Dark & Wild and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1.

Block B (블락비) is a South Korean boy group created by Cho PD, active since 2011. The group consists of seven members: Taeil, B-Bomb, Jaehyo, U-Kwon, Park Kyung, Zico and P.O.

SHINee (샤이니) is a South Korean boy group formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2008. The group consists of five members: Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin. Their group name is a combination of the English word “shine” and the suffix “ee”, thus meaning “one who receives the light”. The group was introduced as a contemporary R&B boy group by their company with the goal to be trendsetters in all areas of music, fashion, dance, etc. On May 23, 2008 their first mini album, Replay, was released and debuted at #10 on the charts and peaked at #8.

INFINITE (인피니트), is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010 by Woollim Entertainment. The group is composed of Sungkyu, Dongwoo, Woohyun, Hoya, Sungyeol, L, and Sungjong. Their mini-album New Challenge sold over 160,000 copies in South Korea alone and was one of the best-selling albums of 2013. Their second full album, Season 2, was released in May 2014.

TWICE (트와이스) is a South Korea-based girl group formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen. The group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. The group debuted on October 20, 2015, with the mini-album The Story Begins.

Red Velvet (레드벨벳) is a South Korean girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment. The group debuted on August 1, 2014, with their digital single “Happiness”. The group is composed of five members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri.

MAMAMOO (마마무), is a South Korean girl group formed by Rainbow Bridge World. The group officially debuted on June 18, 2014 with the song “Mr. Ambiguous”. Their debut was considered by some critics as one of the best K-pop debuts of 2014. They are recognized for their retro, jazz, and R&B concepts and strong vocal performances.

GFRIEND (여자친구) is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji. They made their debut with the EP Season of Glass on January 15, 2015. GFriend won several 2015 female rookie awards and has garnered momentum since their debut, despite coming from a small company. In 2016, they continued their success with their third EP Snowflake and won first place on many music shows with the title song “Rough”. They released their first full-length album LOL in July 2016.

Wonder Girls (원더걸스) is a South Korean girl group and band formed by producer Park Jin-young under JYP Entertainment in 2006, which debuted in 2007. The group current line-up consists of Yubin, YeEun, Sunmi and HyeRim. They are co-managed in the United States by Creative Artists Agency.
